I built my first electric guitar in high school wood shop, an Ibanez Iceman copy, and still play it today! Over the decades it's been through 3 different color changes, a re-fret, and complete refurbishment. In the process, I got the bug for guitar design, and continued to hone my luthier skills.
In the last few years, I've built 7 more guitars, prototyping various techniques, each completely different for different styles of play.
